SEU geometries

On this page, the geometry is defined for the SEPEM single event upset (SEU) tool (click here for a detailed description) based on Mulassis and GEMAT.

Device geometry

The device geometry can be either a rectangular parallellepiped (box) or cylinder. Depending on this selection, two or three dimensions need to be specified. The length units of all parameters on the page are selected at the top of the page.

Shielding geometry

The shielding geometry in this application is spherical. The only inputs needed are:
  1. the number of shielding layers;
  2. the shielding material for each layer (the material selection list is the NIST list used in Geant4);
  3. the thickness of each layer.


The user should specify a name for the geometry which will be used as a label and a description for future reference. The geometry parameters are stored in the database when the Store Geometry button is pressed. The geometry name cannot be left blank. If an SEU geometry with the same name is already stored in the database by the current user, the stored parameters will be over-written.
